Bringing Mina Nath’s story to the public eye, through her wonderful paintings & story has been an amazing adventure for all involved.
Mina’s story is not unlike so many other Holocaust survivors, from an era that was fraught with danger, yet it is unique in how it has been recorded through her paintings & accomplishments.
Mina Nath did not start painting until her 50’s & without any formal training, from memory only, left a legacy of determination, compassion & accomplishment that makes her life story unique.
Mina’s paintings were exhibited at Galleries in New York, Miami & Caracas. Every cent earned from the sales of the paintings exhibited went to support an orphanage in Caracas. As an orphan herself, Mina knew from her own life experiences just how important this cause was.
Now, through the generosity of the Nath family, the remaining Mina Paintings are being donated to another very important cause, that of the Restoration of the Jewish Cemetery in Tarnow, where she was born.
This Restoration Project was started some 30 years ago by Mr Adam Bartosz, former Director of the Tarnow Museum & present Director of the Cemetery Restoration Project. Along the way, dozens of individuals have assisted, without monetary compensation & now, with the majority of funds secured, we are very close to seeing this Project started in 2017.
Minas paintings are now on display at “The Mina Art-Gift Gallery, ul. Lwawska 2, Tarnow 33-100. Many paintings are for sale with the bulk of proceeds being donated to the Cemetery Restoration Fund.” Also…The Days of Remembrance Ceremonies will be held in Tarnow June 14 – 17, 2018.
I invite you to visit Tarnow, to experience the beautiful surroundings & to learn more about the Jewish History that goes back more than 600 years. Please look at “Jewish Heritage Tours” & by all means, please come the The Days of Remembrance Ceremonies held each June in Tarnow.
